Meet the Innkeeper

Marguerite Slaughter began welcoming guests in the lovely house that was already her home in 2000. A Mathews county native, Marguerite married and then raised two children here in Fleeton. This is not an example of an empty nester who simply lets the children's old rooms. She has redone the house most professionally with antique furnishings that evince her elegant taste and give the inn a consistent theme of gracious southern living.

Marguerite also freelances as a landscape designer and has carried out private beautification projects throughout the Northern Neck. Her talent is obvious right at Fleeton Fields.

An active Garden Club member, Marguerite is also a skilled floral designer and has been in charge of the flowers for many a wedding not only at Fleeton Fields but also at Tides Inn and other prestigious venues. You will see her stunning creations as entries in Garden Club shows.
